An Android app for British Columbia gold prospectors and recreational claim stakers. See who holds the placer claim under your feet β and keep working when you're out of cell range.
Everything that needs the network (claim data, map tiles) can be cached, so the core features work fully offline in the backcountry.
Get your GPS position and check it against BC's mineral tenure data. Shows a satellite map with your position, the claim boundary, and the claim's details.
Full-screen satellite imagery centered on you, with place names, placer-claim boundaries overlaid, and a switchable second data layer.
Record a GPS track β distance, speed, duration β that keeps running in the background with a live notification.
Lists your recorded tracks; tap one to see the route on the map.
Save your current location with an optional name (long-press for quick preset names).
Choose the second map layer, manage offline data, and tune GPS settings.
Install the Android APK directly (no Play Store required).
Requires Android 8.0 (API 26) or newer.
Download v0.2.0 (61 MB) NEWESTLatest is v0.2.0-98d283a (build 199) · sha256 8da1ae267fae0021…. Older releases stay linked above. Enable "Install unknown apps" for your browser, then open the downloaded file.
The app's Download District Data screen can pull a pre-built bundle for any of BC's 28 regional districts β its claims, leases, lapsed claims, map layers, and placer-grid cells β straight from this host. Each district is a small self-contained GeoJSON (plus a gzipped copy for faster download).
Browse the per-district files under /datasets/, or see the full size table:
All 11 map layers + the placer grid, per district. Gzipped size is what a download costs.
